The Executive Officer
Municipal Council
Kanpur

Sir,

Subject– Request for cleaning garbage in the mentioned locality

I would like to draw your attention to the insanitary condition in our locality. The maintenance of cleanliness in the locality is continuously being neglected for the last couple of months since the rainy season has occurred as the sporadic fall of heavy rain fills the pits making it hazardous to cross the road at night. Vehicles get subsided in the pits full of water. Mosquitoes breed in the standing water. It is feared that some epidemic will break out. People are already facing serious health issues right after the Municipality has left paying attention to the filth gathered in the surroundings of the locality. To get recovery from the illness, once again people are bound to face difficulty as the routes leading to hospitals are in wear and tear conditions. Ignorance for long is surely going to cost high.

The drains are not cleaned everyday and now because of the uncleaned dirt and waste lying here and there, the surrounding area has started stinking. Flies keep buzzing throughout the day. The sweeper allotted to our locality is usually absent and when he is here, our requests are taken in granted. The Sanitary Inspector is oblivious of the whole concerning matter.

It is therefore a sincere request in behalf of every resident of the affected locality that the sanitary staff must be instructed to take necessary steps in the worrying matter. It will be appreciated if you make time to inspect this locality and set it free from the garbage.

Thanking you,

Your faithfully
Shruti Sharma

The Commissioner of Police
Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh

Sir,

Subject: Complaint of theft-Request for Investigation.

I am constrained to draw your attention to the growing menace of thieves in my locality. The number of theft complaints is on an alarming level and people are bound to live in a threatening surroundings. The absence of policemen and any kind of vigilant security in this crowded and growing locality is provoking the miscreants to turn fearless to indulge in thefts and robberies. Even burglary has been a common practice since last month.

During this week as many as fifteen thefts have taken place. No house locked even for a few  hours is safe in any course of the day. The other day four strangers broke into a house and ransacked all the cash and jewellery at the point of the knife. Kindly start an active investigation to provide us relief from these recent thefts.

I request you in behalf of every affected family in the locality to take immediate steps to stem this tide of insecurity before it’s too late. Kindly facilitate our vulnerable locality with a secure environment by providing a watchmen team for night time and policemen during day time to keep an eye on suspicious people in order to set us free from the fear of miscreants. We will be thankful to you.

Yours faithfully
Sonali Singh

Subject: Complaint against frequent breakdown of electricity in Sohini Market Area.

Sir,

I would like to draw your kind attention towards frequent breakdown of electricity in Sohini Market Area. The low voltage and frequent tripping of electricity in this area has become almost a daily routine. Except for two hours daily electricity cut off, frequent spasmodic breakdown of electricity is simply nightmarish. At night one is left half through the meals at the dining table. During the day, there is no relief, no comforts and no protection from the sultry weather.

Besides this, low voltage of electricity has damaged electric lamps, tubes and other electric appliances. Many times complaints have been lodged with your office but no permanent solution to this menace has been found. There is always some defect in wires or in the transformer. These are in a need to be replaced. Only then the proper supply of electricity can be restored to this locality.

I hope you will look into the matter at the earliest and redress our grievance.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully
Pragati

Write a letter to the Editor of the Hindustan Times drawing attention of the government officials to the problem of unavailability of a bus stop near your colony.

Sub: Providing bus stops nearby the colony.

Sir,

Through the esteemed columns of your prestigious newspapers, I would like to draw the attention of the Government towards the problem of the lack of a bus stop in the area near Ashok Vihar Shruti Apartments. Government has not provided enough bus stops to cover all the apartments and colonies, on the road. The residents have to walk more than 2 km to catch a local bus. Hiring of a rickshaw is very costly for a common man. A rough weather puts the passengers in a great problem wasting their time, energy and stamina.

For lady passengers, keeping their safety in mind it is not advisable to walk long distance. Being a member of full residential area, it is necessary to provide bus stops at all the appropriate points in this area. The convenience and safety of the citizens is the foremost thing to be acted upon.

I hope the authorities would definitely consider our difficulty making appreciating efforts to provide an apt number of bus stops for the convenience of the passengers. As walking long distances in severe cold in winters and sultry days in summers is very tiresome and troublesome, getting rid of the discussed problem would be a big relief to all of us.

Yours truly
Pooja Jain
